The car was ordered by Fred Gibb Chevrolet of La Harpe, IL. Dick Harrell converted it into a Super Chevelle and sent it to Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix, AZ.
The Harrell conversion included a 427 engine with 450 h.p., a dual scoop fiberglass hood, special suspension, heavy duty clutch and cooling, tachometer, special valve covers, and air cleaner.
All Harrell Super Chevelles were ordered stock with the 390/375 h.p. L78 engine, 4 speed transmission and 4.10 posi-traction rear gearing.
This is one of the most historically significant Chevelles ever produced by the most renown Supercar converter of the muscle car era.
The history of the car is unknown. It will be reconverted back a to Dick Harrell 427 specifications as delivered to Courtesy Chevrolet.
Courtesy Chevrolet records from 1968 show this Chevelle was received in February. An ad in the Arizona Republic matching Courtesy Chevrolet paperwork confirmed the authenticity of the car.
The color is Tripoli Turquoise.
