This pickup was restored by the owner.
The F-3 pickup was a ¾ ton heavy duty regular cab truck. It was most often ordered with an 8’ bed. The load capacity was closer to the 1 ½ ton trucks.
Ford trucks underwent a redesign in 1948 so few changes were made for the 1950 models.
The F-series now had a dedicated truck chassis rather than sharing one with Ford cars as in previous years. Options for eight different weight ratings and truck designs were available. The trucks could be ordered as a pickup, panel truck, cab-over, conventional truck, or a school-bus.
The windshield was flat and one-piece. Headlights were integrated with the grille. Options included a “See-Clear” windshield washer operated by a foot plunger, passenger-side windshield wiper and sun visor, and passenger-side taillight. Twin horns and added chrome were other options.
The base engine was a 226 cu. in. flathead six with 96 h. p. Optional engines went from a 239 through a 317 cu. in. for the largest models. The trucks had a floor-mounted shift gear which was being gradually replaced by one on the column.
The F-Series trucks were assembled at sixteen different Ford factories. The F-1 had a 6 ½ foot bed, and the F-2 and F-3 models had an 8-ft. bed.
